FAQ
What is Philosopher's Morning?
Philosopher's Morning is a seasonal art showcase structured like a TV channel. Four times a year, we put together a program of any and all kinds of visual art including, but not limited to, films, music videos, performance art, short video game playthroughs, and theater recordings, and livestream it with artist made bumpers and retro commercials airing between each piece, giving it the feel of old school cable but completely run by artists.
PM airs on the third Thursdays of March, June, September, and December from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM EST with an encore broadcast airing the following Sunday from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM EST.

PM is not a streaming service. Full broadcasts and individual shows are not available to watch at will on our website or Vimeo page after we sign off, PM is meant to be watched live. Most artists featured on PM host their work on their own pages, you can always rewatch your favorite shows directly from them. Check out the Archive for a full list of past programs and where to watch them. All of our bumpers are available for you to enjoy at your leisure as well.
Who programs PM?
PM's head programmer is its creator, artist and filmmaker Emily Tomasi. However, PM wouldn't be possible without the contributions of others, so drop a line if you have something you'd like to see on our program!
Why broadcast through Vimeo instead of a major streaming platform like YouTube or Twitch?
Vimeo is the only streaming platform that allows our program to run completely ad free and is much more artist friendly than the alternatives. Along with ads disrupting the immersion, YouTube and Twitch have very strict content policies that would limit our ability to add more subversive programming to our lineup, which is something PM isn't willing to compromise.
What is a bumper?
A bumper, bump, or channel ID, is a short video played between programs and commercials. TV networks created them to let viewers know what channel they are watching. The introduction of the guide menu made them functionally obsolete, but they're still widely used to establish a mood or aesthetic. Channels such as Adult Swim and the original MTV are known for their bumps.
Can I make one for PM?
YES. PM is completely artist run and strives to have as many voices on it as possible. Bumps are generally 10 or 15 seconds, but some are 6 or 30 seconds. "PM" or "Philosopher's Morning" must appear somewhere in it. Those are the only parameters. Go nuts. Email hi@philosophersmorning.com to discuss your idea and commission rates.
Can I run a commercial for my business/project/fundraiser/live performance etc.?
Also yes! PM is happy to promote your endeavors between our shows, reach out directly using the email listed above or use the contact page to get in touch.
